Spread the Love with Key Club
Spread the Love is an organization that creates notes and cards for children with special needs to uplift and inspire them. Himani S.’21 and Riana S.’23, who introduced our school’s Key Club to the organization, have worked with Spread the Love for some time, and they presented the opportunity to have a card making event to help give back to our community. In their experience, they have said that it has been “wonderful to work with people from around the U.S. and world that have similar values of philanthropy and spreading positivity.” During these times, it is important for students to still feel that they are part of the BASIS Independent Brooklyn community even if we aren’t all together, and this is an easy and fun way we can work together to give back to our community. Volunteers can choose to create general digital cards or physical cards to mail to specific children! Reactions are posted on the Spread the Love Instagram page and it is so heartwarming to see the impact these letters have on kids. Many of these kids have been struggling more due to the pandemic, and this opportunity is an amazing way to make their day! Depending on how much time you would like to spend, the cards can take anywhere from one minute to an hour, but every card has an amazing impact on someone.
