Our second edition of Harmon Thoughts of the Week brings us another old Turkish saying courtesy of our noble principal’s wife: “The sound of the drum is beautiful from far away.”
Truly inspirational. This absolute pearl of wisdom was more difficult for me to decipher than our previous entry, so I’d be curious to hear the interpretations of anyone who actually bothers to read this column.
Could it be an allegory for the school’s P.A. system? A critique of the decibel levels at most concerts? Who’s to say? Once again, the true beauty of Harmon ThoughtsTM is how widely applicable and yet so personal they manage to be.
When I hear “The sound of the drum is beautiful from far away,” I think of the importance of enjoying some things from a distance. And those drums are loud.
That’s all for this week’s edition. Look forward to our next edition for more words of wisdom from our exalted principal.
